Shakespeare on Sunday

Continuing a centuries old tradition of pub theatre, we will be staging a performance of Shakespeare's Antony & Cleopatra by The Outspoken Theatre Co in the historic Disraeli Theatre on the first floor of the pub. 

 

The performance takes place on Sunday 28th July at 7.00 pm.  Refreshments will be available downstairs, throughout the evening.  Tickets are £6.00 in advance.  Please come and support this touring theatre company and their vibrant performance of this classic tragedy by William Shakespeare - a local lad done well!

Beer Festival 2013

Our annual Summer Beer Festival takes place from Friday lunchtime, 19th July through to Sunday 21st July.  We have plenty of beers, live music and delicious food and hope to see you all there!

Give Pizza Chance!

We are now serving Turkish Pizzas (Pide) on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 pm starting on Wednesday 13th March.

These are 100 % homemade and cooked to order in our authentic, wood-fired stone oven.  Varieties available include Kiymali (seasoned ground beef), Sucuklu (Turkish pepperoni & Mozzarella cheese) and Sebzeli (with spinach & feta cheese).  Takeaway service also available.  Delicious!

The following acts will be playing over the next few weeks.  Most are on Friday nights though we are introducing live music one Saturday every month this year.  This is really to showcase less mainstream music so expect something less 'rock covers' and more acoustic/folky/self-penned.  All free entry, so enjoy!

Christmas and New Year Art Exhibition

We are currently showing an exhibition from 'repurposed design', - professional local artists who have created a stunning selection of artworks from recycled materials.

Most pieces are nautical based, with the remainder being abstract angels.  A really superb selection of quality artwork (might make a good Christmas present?!) and definitely worth a look,  the use of skirting  board is seriously impressive.

Clothes Sale!

For anyone interested in a bargain, we are holding a lunchtime sale of pre-loved womens' clothes and accessories on Sunday 9th December from 12.00-2.00 pm.

 

We have a good variety of quality secondhand items - many unworn and still with tags - including handbags, boots, shoes and jewellry.

 

The sale will take place in the Disraeli Room and everyone is welcome.  There will be mulled wine and mince pies and possibly even some festive piped music...

Riotous Assembly Takes the Stage

An entertaining history of the stagecoach performed in story and song.  This is the first production to be performed in The New Disraeli Theatre.  Accomplished local musicians and writers take the audience on a journey by stagecoach from London to Norwich in 1816 - a step back in time when The Bell  was one of the main stopping places during the golden age of the coaching inn.

If you have any 'old money', you could purchase a very cheap round of drinks at 1967 prices! - during 1967 hours only - if you remember them! Plus the only music we'll be playing (apart from live) will be from 1967, we (that's the staff, and hopefully, the customers (!) ) will be wearing only 1967 gear throughout the weekend.
